  Έχοντας περάσει την πιο απαιτητική φάση της μέχρι τώρα ζωής μου, με ελάχιστο χρόνο και διάθεση να δω ταινίες (μονοψηφιος αριθμός για τόσους μήνες, 1η φορά από το 1999 και μετά) πήγα να δω τούτο εδώ (σε πριβέ-όπως αποδείχτηκε- απογευματινή προβολή) στον κινηματογράφο Δαναό και ευτυχώς άξιζε!

  Είναι απίστευτο το πως κάτι που θεωρούμε τόσο δεδομένο, όπως και το περπάτημα, στην ουσία να έχει ιστορία μόλις 50 χρόνων περίπου.
  
  Παλιά λοιπόν, οι άνθρωποι δεν έτρεχαν. Νόμιζαν ότι θα ζήσουν λιγότερο και ότι θα πέσει η μήτρα στις γυναίκες!

  Ο Νοέλ Ταμινί είναι ένας μεγάλος ΘΕΟΣ! Είναι ο Ελβετός που ίδρυσε τον Φεβρουάριο του 1972, το πρώτο περιοδικό για το τρέξιμο με τίτλο Spiridon από το μικρό όνομα του Έλληνα Μαραθωνοδρόμου (1896) Σπύρου (ή Σπυρίδωνα) Λούη. Δείτε τι ενέργεια, χιούμορ και θετική άποψη για την ζωή έχει και θαυμάστε τον!

  Ωραιότατο, αν ήταν και πιο κινηματογραφικά φτιαγμένο, και με καλύτερο μοντάζ θα ήταν ανεπανάληπτο!

  the narrator numerous times gets the length of the marathon wrong. the distance of a marathon is basic stuff. it makes me wonder how many other errors there may have been.

  A movie about running that will make you laugh, cry and feel something towards the sport that you never thought you'd feel. Full of honesty and inspiring interviews, the movie doesn't shy away from the dark side of the sport. The groundbreaking changes for competitive and female runners are a beacon of how far we've come in the last century and give the charity marathon a whole new meaning.

  Excellent documentary focusing on the mainstreaming of running as a sport, with several substrands - the fight for women to be allowed to enter distance races (focusing on Kathrine Switzer, and containing interviews with Switzer and her husband, athlete and running historian Roger Robinson); the evolution of the New York Marathon; the fight for top athletes to be paid; and the fight for freedom from rigid control by the athletics federations.

  Lots of interviews and some great historical footage, including unseen footage from the famous Boston Marathon when race director Jock Semple attempted to forcibly remove Switzer from the race.
