Hector and the Search for Happiness
Directed by Peter Chelsom
Starring Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike, Toni Collette, Stellan Skarsgård and Christopher Plummer
Hector is a quirky psychiatrist who has become increasingly tired of his humdrum life. As he tells his girlfriend, Clara, he feels like a fraud: he hasn’t really tasted life, and yet he’s offering advice to patients who are just not getting any happier. So Hector decides to break out of his deluded and routine driven life. Armed with buckets of courage and child-like curiosity, he embarks on a global quest in hopes of uncovering the elusive secret formula for true happiness. And so begins a larger than life adventure with riotously funny results.

'Hector and the Search for Happiness ' is heart warming and complete fun throughout. It does have it's cliche moments which are a little eye roll worthy but Hectors adventures made me happy so I guess it did what it intended.. right?

I've always been intrigued with the psychology of human happiness, and for me this movie just about sums it up.
Okay, the dialogue is cheesy, and the characters (especially Pike's 'attached girlfriend' character) needed more development, but whatever. It's not perfect, but I loved what it was saying.
Pegg's character started off as something we're all afraid of becoming, and half of us probably already are. By the end of the film he was what we all aspire to be - happy.
No matter what this film lacks in terms of script and sometimes plot, the undeniable message that it's yelling at you is unforgettable.
I really didn't like Rosamund Pike in this but I thought the role fitted Simon Pegg like a glove.
I know it's not perfect, but it was absolutely delightful. And I'm now in such a great mood - which I guess was the point!

A little slow at times but overall a well made, beautiful piece of film. Nice to see Simon Pegg dive into these kind of characters too.

Was für ein wundervoller Film. Simon Pegg in einer ganz super klasse tollen Rolle. Herzzerreißend, vielleicht auch, weil er ein bisschen dicht an mir dran ist (sonst hätte er 5 Sterne bekommen).
