I'm simultaneously a Francophile and a Japanophile so this was like the perfect mix for me. It's so funny and sweet and the protagonist's Amelie-esque mannerisms weren't irritating but rather enamouring.

"I'm scared."
"Of what?"
"That he sees me as France and that I see him as Japan."This is a lovely film about what it's like to fall in love with someone because of their culture. Amélie is an adorable ball of quirk. I could watch her in several more movies. My only complaint is the tone of this movie shifted pretty drastically toward the end. But otherwise c'est beau!
