  Modest but charming Claude Lelouch India-set romance finds the always welcome Jean Dujardin slipping into the director's meta mode quite nicely and bouncing well off of Elsa Zylberstein. Also a nice love letter to his regular music muse Francis Lai, with Dujardin cast a film composer who's arrived to work on a film by a major "India New Wave" filmmaker who now does movies that are "boring" and made for the festival circuit, a pretty funny self dig on Lelouch's part. Odd to see how much Lelouch's more recent films have waded into the whole "white folks discovering in an exotic setting" thing (most obviously with And Now... Ladies and Gentlemen) which feels a bit uncomfortable mixed up with his usual bourgeois tendencies, but God knows a lot of British filmmakers have done far worse with the same idea. Too bad this seems doomed to only be available with English subtitles as a Netflix streaming title in perpetuity; a physical media release for this (and the director's other films while we're at it) would be nice.

  j'ai trouvé ça très drôle, charmant et même touchant. dujardin excelle dans le role du womanizer jmenfoutiste. zylberstein n'est pas vraiment autre chose que son faire valoir, mais elle s'en sort assez bien.

  après ça reste une comédie où on suit deux français aux allures de colonialistes.

  ps. point #avgeek : AF ne vole par en 380 à Delhi, faire NY-Delhi avec AF c'est un peu maso et les bagages de vols venant de Rome et de NY ne sont pas au même endroit à Roissy.

  Antoine Abeilard est compositeur de musiques de films. Tout réussit à cet homme plein d'humour et de légèreté. Sa vie va cependant être chamboulée lorsqu'il part en Inde travailler sur une version très originale de Roméo et Juliette de William Shakespeare. Il y fait la rencontre d'Anna Hamon, épouse de l'ambassadeur Français. Bien que très différent, une attirance réciproque va, de confidences en confidences, très vite les rapprocher...
  
  Admirablement joué par Jean Dujardin... et superbement tourné. De très belles images. On croirait que la caméra est là à l'insu des acteurs qui échangent très naturellement. Un film qu'on retournerait voir le lendemain!!

  A charmer that held my attention. Jean Dujardin is a magnet for me, on-screen. Inherently watchable. Zylbertstein is a good match for him. Lovely.
